This Ghat was built and rebuilt several times in the centuries, by the kings, nobles, and devotees. Now, many mandirs are around the Ghat, one of them Bandi Devi Mandir where people ask for their wishes and lock their with with a lock. When their wish is complete they come back and unlock their lock. 

Moreover, this Ghat is a landmark of Culture, Architectural Heritage, and religion. It is believed that, if someone takes a dip in the Ganga, then their Sins are all clear and they have spiritual purification. The Ganga Aarti is the most famous in the Varanasi, which is done to thank Ganga for its water at the time of Sunset. So, many rituals were performed at the time of Aarti, and even all the priests wore the same clothes who did the Aarti.

Kashi  Vishwanath Temple – The Golden Temple of Varanasi

The Temple was built by King Harish Chandra in the 11 century but after this, it was many times demolished by the Mughal Rulers. But in 1789, it was rebuilt by the  Indore ruler Ahilyabai Holkar, and in 2021 the corridor was built. When we move all the way to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, you will see all the buildings in pink color. 

The Vishwanath temple is even mentioned in the Mahabharat and Upanishad. After marrying Parvati, Lord Shiv started living in Mount Kailash. Lord Shiv established himself in the form of Vishwanath and the temple is dedicated to lord Shiva.

Most of the crowd will see it in the month of Sawan because it is known that if you take a bath in Ganga and offer water to the Jyotirlinga leads to the glory of Salvation. If you want to do Sugam Darshan, that means convenient darshan, then you can do it by booking it from Kashi Vishwanath Temple or you can also do it by going to the help desk center at Temple. 

But this is not applied in the festive season. If you don’t want to do Sugam Darshan, then it will maximum take 1 hour. Temple has a total of 7 gates, basically, three of them are for entrance other four gates are inside the premises. 

Assi Ghat

Like so many other Ghats, in Varanasi Assi Ghat is one of the most popular ghats which contains thousands of years of history. The Word Assi is derived from the word Assi River. It is referred to Hindus and is a relaxing holy location. It is believed that after fighting with the demon Shumbha-Nishumbha, Lord Shiv has thrown its sword in this ghat. Hence, it is a religious site for the devotees of Lord Shiva.

Even this ghat has become part of so many movies. If you plan for Varanasi, you must visit this place. This Ghat is also sometimes called “Haridwar of the South”. Mukti Bhawan

People who are near death can check in to Mukti Bhawan and stay for 2 weeks. In case any person, doesn’t die within 2 weeks they have to leave the Bhawan. Known as the Death Hotel of Varanasi.
